Force Baits
Product Review

By
Gary Plant
A couple of months back one of our regular
readers, Steve Lile (Polemaster), offered me some Force bait products for
reviewing.
As I like to
keep the reviews page independent I don't usually accept such offers, preferring
to review products that I have bought so that I can give MY HONEST opinion.
After all I have spent my money so am entitled to an opinion. Some publications
regularly accept gifts to do reviews and some readers have questioned motives on
the write up. That's why we like to keep impartial. Any reader can submit a
review on any product provided he/she has not received that product for reward
or gain, so as you can see I accepted the offer from Steve on the understanding
that I would do a genuine review warts an all! Steve has such confidence in the
products that he didn't bat an eye lid.
So, as I
said, for the past couple of months I've been using Force Baits products where
ever I've been able and here are my thoughts.
Packaging.
As you can
see from the photos, the goods are marketed to sell with impressive eye catching
packaging. A lot of manufactures spend thousands of pounds on packaging to
market the product on the basis that if it looks the part, it must be good. I
believe Force baits have got the good first impressions unlike, in my opinion,
some other companies who only market in plain plastic bags with a sticky label
on the front! So definitely a plus for me.
Micro Pellet.
These come
in many flavours including the popular, Tuti fruity, Scopex, Banana, Catfood and
one of my favourites Pineapple. Many more flavours are also available. The aroma
is strong but not overpowering, that is mainly down to the fact they all come
packed in 750grm bags that keeps the pellets soft and moist. There's no need to
add any water with these as they are already a soft feed bait. You can even
squeeze a few together to act as a small ball of feed without adding water, no
problem.

On the rear of each bag
is a tips and recipe guide, ideal for the less experienced pellet angler among
us.
I have found that these pellets have great
fish pulling power as when I trialled them I compared them to another brand by
fishing two lines in the same swim. Basically I added a few 4mm pellets to both
feeds and fished an expander over the top, hooked normally. I gave each line the
same amount of time and fished them the same way. I was pleasantly surprised at
the results the pineapple recipe gave. On average I was taking twice as many
fish on the Force Baits line than the other and fish taken included carp as well
skimmers. I have also tried these pellets within a method mix and again found
them to be a good addition. I would definitely recommend the use of these, I'm
not saying they will work everywhere but I believe they can give an edge when
looking for something different.
Hook able pellet.
These reflect and compliment the flavours of
the micro pellets. They are oozing flavour with juice seeping from them when
squeezed slightly. These I found to be a great hair rigged hook bait. On the
downside I wasn't over keen on them for normal
hooking as they were a little hard and soaking them made them expand to twice
their normal size, but for hair rigging, spot on and for that long cast
they stayed put on the hair. They come in three sizes, a mini pellet and a
larger version and an extra large size. The mini pellet was ideal for those shy
biting skimmers while the larger versions tempted carp to 11lb.

The extra large size.
Mini boilies.
I used these in conjunction with the method
feeder and couldn't fault them. Again they oozed flavour, didn't
split when pushed onto a baiting needle and stayed put on the cast. Forcebaits
also produce pop up varieties that I tried and found them also to be very good.

Conclusion.
I can only say that there are a number of
products very similar to each other on the market and generally it is down to
marketing skills that reflect general sales. Each angler has their own
preference but I must say Force bait products are excellent and once they hit
the shelves of the local tackle shops they will rival a lot of other brands. I
don't know how much each product retails for, or how many stockists there
are around the country, but if you can give it a try do so, I don't think you
will be disappointed.
If you need any more info on the products
please IM ' Polemaster' via the forum and I'm sure
he will be glad to help you.
