Open Match Review

Preston Innovations
Makins Fishery
Phase 2
Tuesday 13th March 2001

Things continued along the same vein for the remainder of the match. To say it was hard is an understatement. A few fish were being caught, and lost which brings me back to Dick Tranter or Dickie T as he is known to us. Dick hooked and lost six carp on that Little reptile pool. If he had landed them he most certainly would have main framed. Instead Dick weighed 2 lb 7 oz. You see weights were not that great, as you will see from the results table below.

1. Richard Evans Mansfield Angling Peg 6 Paddock 17 lb 6 oz
2. Geoff Musson Mansfield Angling Peg 11 Snake 13 lbs 9 oz
3. Paul Mee Clive Smiths Match Peg 3 Paddock 10 lb 6 oz
Section Scott Smith Clive Smiths Match Peg 22 Paddock 8 lb --
Section Les Jones WMP Peg 8 Snake 9 lbs 12 oz
Section Mark Perkins Mansfield Angling Peg 2 Crater 7 lb 4 oz

Richard Evans, Mansfield Angling, on Paddock Pool

Richard fed very sparingly across to the features on the far side. Using single red maggot he caught steadily throughout the day. While doing so he fed a little corn down the track every now and again before moving over it in the last hour, catching better stamp of fish. His net consisted of a mixture of fish including Roach, small carp, tench and a single skimmer.

Congratulations to Richard and it just leaves me to say a big thank you to everyone that supported the event.
