Sensas Team Challenge

Clash Of The Titans
Salford ParK
Birmingham
10th / 11th March 2001.

P.1

Twelve midday and the all in. Things started well for Vince Gandley, Shakespeare, who landed a decent skimmer on the waggler second chuck, but everywhere else was slow to respond. This isn't surprising really as all the fish must have been queuing for headache tablets somewhere, after the blitz!

Andy May was pegged next to Paul Downes near to the main car park; Jean Desque was end peg on the same bank to Paul's right, but 9 pegs away. Next to Jean Desque was Rob Gandley, Shakespeare. Rob as you are probably aware, has won his fair share of matches on blood and joker at Woodland View this winter, so was pitting his skills against the master. Also in this section was Mark Pollard, Essex County. Martin Owen, Starlets, was end peg on the opposite bank. In that section was Stu Conroy and Richie Hull. Further up the bank were Simon Fry, Mark Addy and Kieron Rich.

Martin Owen began to catch. So did Desque. Had the bombardment pushed the fish down that end? If they had they would have had to swim along way round Desques Groundbait!

Martin Owen.

Some anglers were now starting to catch regularly, albeit only small fish, whilst others were struggling. Mark Addy was beginning to string together some fish, as was Sam Wildsmith, Preston Innovations Gold, next to him. Simon Fry, Starlets, next to Sam was also now catching regularly. Kieron Rich was struggling.

Mark Addy

Two hours into the match and more people were catching regularly. Paul Downes was beginning to get the edge over Andy May, who was one of the first to show, Jean Desque was getting the better of Rob Gandley who, by the way, hadn't smoked for twelve months or more, scrounged a ciggy to ease his pain, and Mark Pollard was also doing well. Further up the bank saw Tom Pickering pegged next to French International Eric Lupin. Tom had the upper hand. Rob Brennan, Starlets, was pegged next to his father Joe, Foster Tipton, and was giving his son a lesson much to the frustration of Rob. On the opposite bank and end peg was Alan Scotthorne, who was giving a good account of himself.

Alan Scotthorne.

Further along that section was our 'Stormin' Norman, who had drawn out of it, but was holding his own. Further down saw Sandra Halkon-Hunt showing the male dominated field around her how to fish.
