  1. Packington Winter League Rd 4

Firstly let me start by saying how I wasn't looking forward to this round as my rotation has me fishing the notorious Siblings pools - great in summer but deadly when the first hard frosts appear. Two pools designed to suit the small angling club and pleasure anglers where pole fishing is the main attack.

So I was hoping for a favoured draw but unfortunately I drew peg 2 on the horse shoe (Sibs A). With water crystal clear despite the gaffers attempt to cloud the water with a chemical ...
  2. Packington Winter League Rd 3

I was really looking forward to this 3rd round as I had to sit at home for rounds 1 and 2 on bed rest following my heart stent fitment last month. So I'd like to thank the two Anglers who stood in for me and recorded mid section scores. Thanks go to Pete Murray and Matt ?.

My rotation draw today was the high numbers on Molands and following a short practice on Friday I knew it was going to be hard going due to the recent cold snaps and frosts. So when I drew peg 43 I wasn't too sure ...
  3. Final round - Silvers

Well I had to settle for second overall 😊 as I could only muster half the weight I needed and got bashed up off the peg to my right by Dave Stretch Armstrong 24.14.0.

I had 12.2.0 - and struggled throughout the match trying to combat the strong wind and heavy tow. Gambled on the big skimmers coming in close to any of my Three 6 metre lines - thought the Corn and Meat might do some damage today but wasn't to be.

  4. Solihull angling silvers mini series

    Hi Guys

In the final winter league blog I made reference to this 4 match series and how I spent most the match watching Danny catch skimmers because I had a very important 3rd round the following week. After two rounds I was sitting top of the pile on weight advantage something that I'm not use too. With 3 from 4 to count one more section win would maybe do it if my only rival didn't match my scores over the last two rounds.

    The Draw
Dave was before me to dip ...

  5. PWL Final League Standings

    Finished 24th must try harder.

Top 3 = Phil Canning, Dave Elliott, Chris Toal

  6. PWL The Final Round.

That's it all over until November - how did I do?

Well not as good as I'd hoped when it all began last Autumn and 72 anglers set off on a quest for glory. Little did 71 anglers know that a certain Mr Phil Canning was in the mood to dominate, and boy did he dominate, leading from the first match and staying at the very top for every round. I take my hat off to this lad when I think back to a few draws that a lesser angler would have slipped up, he still managed to score well.
  7. PWL Results after Rd 9.

Results to date with two droppers removed.

  8. Packington WInter League Rd 9

    The Penultimate Round.

I was really looking forward to this round as there are a few pegs on Little Geary's more than capable of winning the whole match - something that was of interest to me as finishing in the top 15 looks out of the question now. With my two droppers already in the bag the rest of my points already amassing 30 points........too many for the last place envelopes.

For some unknown reason I fancied peg 5 which of late holds some big Carp down to the ...
  9. Packington Winter League Rd 8

Today I'm dipping my hand in the bag for the low numbers on Molands pegs 2 to 33.

Those of you that are now following my blogs may recall my write up for round 5 and how in the first paragraph I stressed the importance of avoiding the low numbers. So I wasn't too happy when the disc I picked had a single digit and as I focused it was peg 6............not good at all.
Chris Newton had fished peg 8 on Saturdays open and caught a few but said plenty of fish were showing on peg ...
  10. PWL Round 6

    Hi All
My Section of Twelve anglers today consisted of some new faces, a few stand-ins for the stay at home brigade and Big Keith my mucker from the first half of this series. On paper it looks a tough section as the lads coming in are all venue experts and draw bags too..........of which Danny Tresigne is the cream of them " always in the forties" as he was yesterday on 48 and today on peg 45. It's hard enough trying to compete with the likes of Danny if he's on an average peg ...
