    JAMES MAUDE ANGLING CLUB LITTLE JOHN LAKES (Maid Marion Lake)

    Weather: At last summer has arrived with the current bun hanging over head all day with an occasional cool breeze.

    That is the time it takes to pay our respects to those sadly lost in this weeks tragedy at Grenfell Tower in London. Events such as these certainly put how fragile our lives are, and puts things into perspective, so go fishing and if you blank it don’t matter enjoy your life to the full.

    Today saw the James Maude Merry Men back on home soil following there two away matches up north Little John Lake and Maid Marion was fare of face as she graced us with nets a plenty. If there was ever an award for best kept fishery then Steve Beard would certainly be a top candidate for this accolade, immaculately laid out in a stunning location which is credit to his hard work and attention to detail.

    HAPPY FATHERS DAY
    The idea originated in the USA and has been officially celebrated there on the third Sunday in June since 1966.
    The exact origins of what we now know as Father’s Day are disputed, though we do know the movement for a day which celebrated fatherhood began roughly 100 years ago.
    Many believe that Sonora Dodd, from Washington, came up with the idea after hearing a Mother’s Day sermon in 1910 and wondering, not unreasonably, why fathers did not have their own day too.

    Dodd and her siblings had been raised by their father as a single parent after their mother died in childbirth.
    With the local YMCA and the Ministerial Association of Spokane, a city near where she was born, Dodd began a campaign to have the day officially recognised.
    The first such Father’s Day was held in Spokane in 1910, with a number of towns and cities across America later following suit.
    Others say it is Grace Golden Clayton, from Fairmont, West Virginia, who should be credited with the concept of Father’s Day, after she suggested a day celebrating fatherhood in 1908.
    She put forward the idea following a mine explosion in a nearby town which killed more than 360 men – arguing that children in the town needed a time to remember their fathers.
    Now, the day exists simply to remind everyone that dads are great.

    Well the Daddy of them all today at Little John Lakes Maid Marion Lake was Pete Lambert, somewhat a venue expert and carrying his air miles with him Pete drew a flyer once again. Peg 25 which of late has not thrown up some great weights and this gave Pete the impetus to leave the pole on the bank setting up his rods and a 16mtr cast the tactical pete took the spoils with the only ton of the day 113lb-2oz and his second match win of the season. Well done Pete. Dave Lilliman always fishes a cracking match and he also uses his air miles, peg 16 took 94lb-5oz to the scales. Well done Dave. Keeping up his challenge for the title Hon Sec took third with down the edge tactics from end peg 7 and a commendable 85lb-14oz. Well done Skelly.

    As alway a top report, from a top man. Nice to see you getting back in form Bill. A minutes silence somehow don't seem enough, for those caught up in that inferno. All those firemen entering the building should be honoured, heroes every last one of them.

    Nothing wrong with that !!.Great report & some very interesting Information as ever👍👍
    Last week I said Maybe Less Writing & More concentration on The Fishing ,Results will follow.
    Next week tell them you just want the results as you are going to concentrate on the Fishing
    They will be Shaking in their Boots .Knowing The Hidden Talent of Billy Harrison is about to be Unleashed ,like a "Hungry Lion" on his un - suspecting Club Mates.
    5 Hours later they will Stand to applaud a New Face to the Winner circle YEE HA !!
