Hi everyone i've just received this so thought i should post it. This now for me should put a end to the debate.
Dear Geoff
Many thanks for your enquiry about the risk of fishing KHV infected waters. It has been passed to me from our customer contact team.
KHV has been confirmed at Barston Lakes and the water has controls on it that prevent fish movements off the site. KHV is a viral disease that affects common carp and its varieties when water temperatures are above 18 degrees C. It is a serious disease that causes severe losses of fish. However, there is no reason why you should not continue to fish at Barston.
The highest chance of moving KHV between waters occurs when fish are stocked. There is a much lower risk that the disease could be moved on wet fishing tackle, mainly wet nets. This is most likely to occur when the disease is active. Now that temperatures are falling this risk is reduced. You can also help ensure that you do not spread this, or any, disease buy fully drying your nets and other tackle before fishing another water. You should also always follow fisheries instructions for dipping nets before, and sometimes after, fishing.
Following these few simple steps there is no reason why you should not continue to fish these waters.
I hope that this answers your question.
Regards
Nigel
