all depends on peg your in the carp will shoal up and its a case of finding a feature to fish to and casting around it and watching for line bites, if you get liners you know theres fish/carp in your swim from the off, if not you could be snookered and looking to build a weight on silvers

im same as kev when it comes to feeder work for carp during winter, i go for a low oil pellet with a grain of corn or 2 hair rigged
