Is this happening on IE only ? have you tried firefox or opera for browsing ?
One good trick is to clear your cache and cookies this can be done in IE from tools/options it may be you have a couple of rogue cookies, once you have done this restart your browser, the only downfall to this is password sites, typically like here a cookie is used to store info you may find you have to retype your name and pass in all the sites your a member of unless of course your selective about the cookies you remove.
worst case scenario roll back your pc
this can be done from start/programs/accessories/system tools/system restore, just pick a restore point and roll the pc back to that point pick a restore point prior to your problems starting.
This won't effect any recent work that you have done on your pc, but if the problem is a virus some can install themselves and remain resident in the restore archive so restoring will just reactivate the virus,
If none of the above works I can point you in the direction of a very powerfull peice of software that will find even the deepest embedded mail and adware, but most people need help with it.
I hope that helps
