i have used this and it does work......however...........i am of the opinion it is the close proximatey of the shot and their movement on the sucking in of the bait coupled with being dead depth that are key. as everyone knows it is the movement of the last shot which registers on the float and indicates a bite. try putting the two droppers 2 feet up the line and see what happens...the fish especially f1's and crucians can take it in and not show any indication. i have experimented for two years and as long as you get the depth and shotting right the loop becomes inconsequential. as been mentioned before never be afraid to use lead close to your hook.
