Default floats

hi every one.

im having lots of trouble with my floats such as,
getting to like one or two models of preston then they stop making them
or using the drennan ones when i catch a couple of fish on them the line dig's into the body of the float and then it start's taking on water and then when i move the float it damages the line.
or lets say i buy a float and it says "4x 14" on some floats the may take 2x number 8s or on another it may take 7 number 8s.
i have bourght some floats from most of the bigger brands and ill buy two floats the same model and size(like 4x12 or 4x14) and although the floats are identical they require different amounts of shot.
or playing a fish and the tip snaps of.

can any body suggest a float or a number of floats that will solve all my problems.
i need floats for depths between 1-15ft,
for
pellet,
cat meat,
corn,
maggot,
worm,
up in the water,
and laslty i need some cane tips and some hollow or solid plastic tips.
wire and carbon stems.

thinking of trying the mick wilkinson, or the kc carpa floats even though i have had problems with the kc ones before or the garbolino ones.

HELP!
