Where to start, awoke on Saturday with high expectations of a decent days fishing, although having never fished Boddington.
Arrived at the reservoir for the draw and drew 62 which i was informed was not in a bad area, how wrong can some people be, i made my way to my peg in a cold strong easterly wind that actually was blowing the yachts over.
Set up in plenty of time had a bit of banter with anglers either side and at 11'0 clock threw my method feeder out into the chilly water, and sat and waited, i repeated this over the next 5 hours and when the all out came pulled both my nets out and tried to dry them in the still chilly easterly wind, packed my gear and trudged off back to my car. The net result of 5 hours sat in the wind and cold was not a single bite, although i was not the only one i think out of 60 anglers, some of whom waited till the end some 25 to 30 walked away with the feeling of what went wrong. In short it fished absolutely terriblly.
Anyway on i went into the Rodmasters on Sunday and i drew peg 91 which i was again told was the area to be. Same as the previous day set up, banter etc. When the all in was sounded i cast the reliable method feeder as far as the still chilly and strong easterly wind and lo and behold had my first bite on this normally prolific venue after 5 hours and 40 minutes fishind and after a very carefull and thought provoking fight landed a TENCH from a prolific CARP water, nonetheless i took heart and recast and recast and recast etc, for the remainder of the match and finished a rather productive day with 2lbs 4oz, once again i was cold and rather p~~~~d off but thats fishing.
Down there in July for another go at qualifying.
Thanks for reading.
