NY Pole angling
Greetings All, my name is Rich Rachlin from Stony Point, New York. I'm 64 & been a fly caster for fifty years. I started pole fishing last year with a 9.5 m cheapo (about the only thing I could get over here) and some accessories available from 'The fishing Guys.' I've been going for trout & panfish, & the pole with a light float has proven absolutely amazing here for trout as well as sunnies etc. I've been using Berkeley yellow plastic grubs & have literally never blanked (although some days I've had a bag of crawfish). I elasticated one top kit with 8 solid rubber, but mostly just 'fish to hand' with a plain tip at maybe 7 meters. All this has been in a small stream I've been fishing for maybe 15 years. I look forward to getting better yet, but have one burning question: how do you keep a light enough pressure on the line to use the disgorger? It seems if I pull the line taut enough, it harms the trout (which I would rather not kill - I've had my share by now). Looking forward to some advice. THX All.
