Thats a problem I suffer with a lot, Im quite a messy angler using baits like sweet corn and meat tend to dry out on the pole and make it very difficult to ship back smoothly

but there is a solution to your problem

Firstly get you pole and clean it thoroughly with warm soapy water get every peice of grime off.

Go to the car spares shop and get yourself a bottle of "Son of a Gun" do the final clean with that, and polish it up when it dries.

All you need after that is a damp towel and clean the pole after every session to keep it shipshape, the pole will fly through your hands.

I have this problem with the Diawa G8 it has very small grooves in the pole like a banding its a part of the manufacturing process and these groves although very small fill with all the bait and slime from your hands.

I hope that helps
