what ever shape you make it simon try and cater for all techniques not just pole make it about 25m wide to a feature in every peg so feeder waggler bomb and pole can all come into play.12m between pegs with trees hanging down on the inside. stock loads of skimmers and roach plus odd tench and plenty of carp and ide. comfy platforms that stick out 1m into the pond so you can reach all your inside features and good paths for trolleys though parking behind every peg is better if the option is there.i might consider planting leylandi around the lake to provide a bit of shelter from cold winds.when excavating i dont know how accurate you can dig but consider the prevailing wind and i would dig a 'hole' in every peg to try and hold fish in winter but also a platteau too rather than uniform depth.
just my dream if i ever got fortunate enough
