Match Report
Dog Lane Fishery
Middle Lake
Napton Warwickshire

November 4th

Middle Lake 11 pegs

1st Alan Hancox (Team Lollipop) Peg55 20lb 8oz Pole/Expanders/Carp & Bream

2nd Dave Smart (Castle Angling) Peg52 14lb 6oz Method/Maggot/Carp

3rd Geoff Eggison (Lime Tree AC) Peg8 9lb 14oz Pole/Maggot/Miixed Silvers

Three nights of hard frosts to -4degC put the fishing to true winter tactics, with minimal feeding and either long waits on the tip or searching the peg on the pole.

First place this week went to Alan Hancox of Team Lollipop who made a debut appearance on peg55 in the hope of catching some of Dog Lanes' Bream. Alan managed to do this on the pole using small expanders to tempt five fish out of the chilly water. His expanders were also of interest to half a dozen common carp which boosted his weight to a match winning 20lb 8oz.

Second place went to last weeks winner, Dave Smart on peg52 who adopted his method feeder tactics of last week and was able to tempt 14lb 6oz of carp to the weigh scales.

Third place and almost deciding not to weigh in was Geoff Eggison on Peg8 on the Dam wall. Geoff in the last hour found the bream had arrived but would only take a bait that was laid on and 'inched' through his feed area. Sadly for Geoff he lost several good fish on the way to the net that would have put him well clear of the field. Maybe it's time to invest his winnings in a longer net handle!

Despite the conditions everyone was getting bites but hitting them proved to be difficult, most likely because the most obliging fish were 1oz roach!.

The draw for next weeks match will be SATURDAY at the Kings Head Pub Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm. (Light permitting)
