Default Fishing licence

Could someone please settle an argument that me and a couple of neighbours were "debating".

Scenario..You are lord of the manor and own about forty acres of land and upon said land is a lake, very highly stocked with your own fish. One morning you look out of window and think "by george its a grand day i,ll get the old fishing rod out and bag a few of them big boys out of the lake"

I insist that you still need a fishing licence, even tho you own the land, and it is private property, neighbour thinks i,m talking out of my bottom, also I insist that a water bailiff cannot be refused entry to lake to check licence. He said that the bailiff would be trespassing if he stepped foot upon private land. This scenario would be in England
