It is not easy to do, but try ignoring what else is going on and concentrate on your own match. I find it easier to say to myself "I'm here to have a day's fishing and I'll be there or thereabouts", that way I am very single minded but don't beat myself up if I miss out.
How many times have you been so close to framing or winning a section and if you're really honest, what cost you was the ten minutes looking for a bonus because you could see Joe Matey bagging? And when it came to the weigh in, you beat the angler you were concerned about!
In one of the other threads a couple of weeks ago, I talked about my ruthless attitude this year. That was what I was talking about
: being single minded and ignoring the bankside rumours.
But equally, you must accept that you are there for a day's fishing, so don't pack up early, keep plugging away and the time spent will pay off eventually.
