This week at Dog Lane the wind had picked up and the water colour had dropped out, leaving the nine anglers fishing no choice but to either fish further out from the bank or go light for the silvers.
Martin Paynter on peg 4 chose to fish close in for the roach and skimmers for the first two hours and found them obliging straight from the all-in. Eventually Martin was forced to go further out as his inside line dried up, and with the increased tow on the lake took the unusual step of using a 1gm lollipop float and a size 20 hook to single red maggot to take a run of Bream and skimmers for a match winning weight of 37lb 10oz.
Second place on peg50 went to last weeks winner Alan Hancox who in his final hour had the carp queuing up to take his sweetcorn or expander bait at 13m over micro pelllet. Alan weighed in a very creditable 34lb 8oz.
Third place went to Daventry Chef, Andy Judd who cooked up a net of roach and perch for a far bank winning weight of 12lb 8oz. Nice busy fishing and an enjoyable way of keeping warm, maybe it's time to consider a silvers only 3hr match one Sunday afternoon.
The draw for next weeks match will be SATURDAY at the Kings Head Pub Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm. (Light permitting)
