Yes, infact the canals are shallow all over.
- Our boat is deeper than a lot at around 2ft9", and we often touch bottom, even when in the middle. (but thats another topic, isnt it bw!!)
Unfortunatly i have not seen 'waterworld' yet, as its only broadcast in the central region, and i havnt got around to geting a copy. But several people on our forum have been dicussing it. Quite a co-incedece it was just this week!
But Ridgeacre is right, the amount of infomation hirer's get (although it varys largely on the hirebase in question) is scary.
- As he says, often then get nothing less that shown how to start it, and send on there merry way, possably with a crude video on locks or a handbook of sorts.
- We get the otherside of that, which is that as soon as they get to a lock they dont have a clue, and we have to teach them how its done in order to prevent a huge holdup.
- Its not just hirer's eather, a lot of people are buying new boats for vast amount of money with no prior knowlage, and the boat builders give even less training!
And as i said earlyer, becuase boaters and anglers so very rairly talk to each other, even after 10years on the canal, i still thought giving you room was honestly the best thing to do.
