Default Ground bait

Can anyone suggest which ground bait for different conditions and fish. I have seen guys feeding and balling in ground bait in a match and catch carp, roach and bream. I am told it is shellfish & marine or black turbo. When i try the same method it does not seem to work, or mybe i am been told one thing and they are using something else. There seems to be quite a choice.

Strange thing is i have fished verious waters of different sizes in matches and certain guys always seem to do well with different weights with verious fish from carp, roach and bream. There are one or two guys that always do very well no matter where the venue is. Maybe they are just very good anglers.
