Default Pellet Advice

Hi all
Never used pellets before,
So what kind of pellet + size would you use in an open ended feeder or method feeder. How do you dampen them down for this use.
What type of pellet + size do you use on the hook, and for hair rigging.
How would you use pellets when pole fishing.
Any advice on methods and preperation would be appreciated

Assuming your fishing commercials for carp then first of all speak to people fishing your local lakes and see what they're doing.

On the method i'd probably fish with dampened micros, and on the open ended feeder i'd probably use a mix of 4mm and micro but this depends on fish sizes. To dampen your pellets, put them in a tub and simply pour lake water over them if micros or boiling water for bigger for just a few minutes, try a few of the pellets and see if they are soft enough to mould into a ball in your hand, if not leave them to soak a bit longer, remember boiling water is very hot!

For hair rigging on the tip i'd use a hard pellet, again whatever size you feel neccesary but generally match to your feed unless your feeding micros (might be quite difficult to band a micro!) Tie a band into your hair to band it better. Or alternatively tie in Korum quickstops and use expanders on the hair.

When pole fishing i generally use 4 or 6mm expanders on the hook and feed pellets smaller or up to the same size as the hooker.

For preparing expanders, ivest in apellet pump, you can do it by hand but it takes so much longer its not worth it!
