Default changes to skrettings pellets

Skrettings in thier wisdom have changed the ration used in the coarse fish/carp pellet .
Not any more are they the light in colour low oil pellet that most of the fisheries up and down the country and anglers have used for years.!!!

To be fair to skrettings they have been having trouble with the old ration for a while as i have noticed when the pellet comes in or an e-mail saying" that there has been a problem at the mill and the pellet will be dispatched late"

The replacement , this is a pellet much like a trout pellet in colour and with an oil content of 13% and a protein level of 32 for the 6mm pellet the carp are going to be rocketing on the weight at all of the fisheries that use it.

I am not saying this is a bad thing but a change....

Alternatives, Yes there are other pellets out there (SRB, Coppins, etc) But they are more expensive than skrettings . As skrettings are made in this country, savings made on transport and the exchange rate. As the other pellets are made in Europe.

Does this mean that the cost of pale, low oil pellets will go up ? Who knows but for one thing as soon as the old stock runs out it will not be a skrettings pellet..

good to hear peoples views on this one.

Some of the new 6mm's float which is a bit of a concern, sure you can dampen them down but they tend to want to stick together a bit and the breakdown process begins, other than that I have had no issues with them so far they still do the same job.

Judd whats your feedback so far from fisheries that insist on low oil 13% is creeping up a tad

Default skrettings pellet

There is a concern with the oil and higher protein levels in the new pellet, As a percentage the jump is great... but to say the new pellet also is a bit bouyant is not good to hear as there has been several problems with the skrettings coarse fish pellet for a while with one batch floating and one batch sinking its more the not knowing that is the problem . The consistancy is not there as it was before so hopefully with this new ration they can iron out a few problems, if given a chance.

But think on , if we the anglers are thinking its tough, how would a bait company that buys pellet and re- dresses them for the angling market feel, as i dont believe the new pellet will take on colour and flavour like the original coarse pellet....

and yes justin there has been some concern raised, and some new manufacturers looked at. But i think it we will sit and see what the responce will be before we jump ship becouse skrettings has been such a great pellet manufacturer for many years.

13% oil is almost twice that recommended for carp. This is why I always use coppens, skretting have made too many changes in the past.

Hi all, just a note of reasurance from skrettings, I was on the phone again this afternoon and it seems that there is a ration change for a short time before they WILL be going back to the light colour again. apparently its all about the availability of fish meal...
