Question maggots

will maggots alone keep fish in your swim for along time the reason i ask this is because i have
more confidence in a maggot feeder rather than a groundbait feeder i am planing on
filling my feeder every 5 mins i have got 3 pints for 5 hours or should i try the groundbait feeder
with maggots hemp caster
cheers worms

Default maggots

depends on what you are fishing for, and where you are fishing for them. If you are fishing running water for say chub or barbel, then 3 pints of maggots won't last you to long, and as far as feeding the fish off i doubt it very much, but if you are on a stillwater and you are targeting bream, then three pints of maggots is a lot of maggots, as you will probably be fishing a cage feeder with groundbait, and if that is the case try killing a pint of them and they will lie dormant in amongst your mix, but as you will soon find out bream and carp do like a dead maggot, 2 dead red maggots on a size 16s can be a killer especially in the colder months when they prefer a smaller bait.
hope that helps
cheers

Just changing the subject slightly,
Who likes to buy their maggots as late as possible before a match (i.e. the morning of the match) & who prefers to buy them earlier, & how much earlier (24hrs.. 48hrs ?).
Following a tip once, I like to put them in bran powder the day before, they actually smell quite nice when they been in that for a day, but is there any way of plumping them up a bit if you buy them early ?... & no I don't want to serve them a 3 course meal the evening before a match

If you buy them a few days before you want to use them, keep in a bag with no air in the fridge and they go into suspended animation! Soon come round when released and will be as fresh as when you bought them.
