I was always taught that if you wanna catch on the hemp then thats all you take with you, that way you'll keep working at it till you get it right and wont be swayed at trying other methods an baits.

If i'm fishing hemp and tares then thats all i will feed in the chosen area i'm fishing.

Correct steve that's how Mr Nettleship taught me. That's 45 years ago, don't fish it as hook bait now though, can't get it on the hook with one hand, shame though.

Going to give this a try on the Kennet and Avon Canal......will fishing hemp on the hook work in coloured water or does it have to be clear. How would you set a rig out to fish it in 5 feet of water.

ray,its always worth adding it to your gb mix.skimmers and bream, roach, virtually all fish will nose around in the mix to get at it.on the canal at bath,i fish a 0.8mm main line, with a 0.7mm hook length.size 20 hook, and a 0.6 gramm slim bodied float.feed little and often, and remember that using an artificial is fine, but not in a match!!if you fish it on the hook, try using a bigger piece, then your loosefeed.
