Default pellet method feeder

Does anyone know the best way of preparing pellets for the method feeder, what type of pellet, size and how long to soak them for. Will be using the traditional method feeder with groundbait but may want to try pellet method as well, thanks guys.

hi I recomend the dynamite 1mm swimstim pellets for fishing this method
empty amount req into a large round bait bucket then pour in water(LAKE OR TAP)
until your pellets are submerged leave for around 2 minutes then drain of and then leave for around 10 minutes to go soft mould around your method feeder as you would groundbait
ive found that pellets fished around the method takes a bit longer to get the fish intrested
but once they turn up they seem to stay in the swim longer as I feel groundbait no longer as the holding power with carp now that they are getting bigger on the match lakes that I fish
all standard method baits work well with the pellet method

Any size pellet can be used if prepared correctly.

A good tip is to use micros as described by Torchwood above but mix in a few the same size as your hookbait. If you are struggling to get the consistency correct add a bit of fishmeal to the mix to make it a bit stickier, grilled crushed hemp is also a good binder.

Another good tip for preparing them is to soak the pellets for one min per mm, for instance 2mm=2 mins of soaking. i generally use 2mm and sometimes use the juice from cans of corn to soak them as this is a fair bit stickier than water and often a corn hookbait with pellet prepared like this can be good.

You will probably find the pellets will bind much better if you soak them in HOT water. This seems to 'melt' the binding agent in the pellets (gluten ?) and gives them a sticky feel. Most likely you will not need to soak them for so long.

Tis true about the hot water, Although you need to do it at home, or take thermos to the bank. For me my thermos is better used for coffee and it is always better to use lake water or juice rather than tap water from home.

Ok duffman, thanks, plenty of different options to try and hot water sounds quite easy to try,but do you mean hot tap or boiling kettle water mate.

Moony,I use the kettle, but not piping hot.I put a healthy squirt of Willis Worms yellow juice ( XXX 365 ) on top of the pellet/water give a bit of a stir and drain over a riddle.
