Red baits are still tops top for tench i would add some corn (red ) and maybe try a red pellet..... trouble is carp will bulliy all the other fish out .You usually find when your carp lines start to dry up the odd tench appears (so i am told ) its not drying up thats my problem its starting them...i have had tench on paste too in the margins tight against bank

If you are fishing for tench in a lake where carp dominate then dont bother...
You probably only get tench straight away before the carp descend on your groundbait attack or after they have gone (providing you dont feed again).
So I would try and pick a venue (canal, silverfish or fen type drain) which offers a better chance of you catching that big tench your after.
If you cant do the above then you will have to feed light and fish small baits like castor or maggot and sit it out.
Good luck...
