I am going fishing next week while on my hols (Just went today for the 1st time and it was excellent)

I will be in the South of France right beside the Canal du Rhone a Sete and I need some advice - What sort of bait should I get - I wanted to take some stuff from the UK as there's no fishing shops near by and I have no idea what else I can do.

Is spam supposed to be any good? I do not know what I will be catching or anything like that, I'm just starting and to be honest I have no idea about what to do, so please treat me gently.

I am disabled as well, so I have to be careful about digging things at the moment as I am due to have an op on my shoulder.

Hi Nick,

Tackle shops are a bit thin on the ground in France, but you don't have to worry, most supermarkets sell both tackle ( bit patchy ) and bait. You'll find little pots of maggots - ( asticots ) and worms ( ver de verde, I think ) plus corn , boilies, nuts and hemp. Make sure you buy a licence, you can get them at post offices, tabacs etc you'll be in bother if caught without one!
