I can't help you on the line to use as I need help with that myself but it's personal regarding what loop to use. I use crow's foot on my elsatic and use a double loop. Most people I see double the line over and through the hole and pull tight.

Look on this site and it will help you choose the one that will suit you best

Thanks Sponduke, that knots for a lure though, I was looking for a loop for the connecter, i have been using fox micro plus for mainline but it rots after a couple of months.

For all my canal work i use mosella xedion line , for squatt punch and bloodworm i use .06 straight through and for light caster and maggot work i use .08 straight through and for big fish chubb bream and carp i use .14 straight through i use dacron connectors so its double loop for me, before mosella xedion line i use to use shimano silk shock both fantastic lines

Sarfix DNA is the best line ever! But try getting hold of the stuff is a nightmare. The 0.06 mics up correct and is 1.5Kg the 0.16 is 5.8Kg so thats like tow rope!

I went out and bought that silkshock and I must say it's a very good line, I had a long pleasure session the weekend to try and test the pellet feeder on the pole and using new line. It stood up to the test, landed plenty of nice fish with it and most of all I had confidence in the line which is what i've been lacking lately!

Micro Plus should be very good for canal rigs. Use 0.10 or 0.12 for light silver rigs, 0.16 for bonus fish like bream and perch and 0.20 for snaggy swims, carp or chub.

It should not rot after a couple of months. Perhaps you are not storing your rigs right? Make sure they are always out of sunlight and don't get wet unless they are in use.
All my rigs stay in the compartment under my seat, or in my Match Stax system. After I put a rig onto the pole while setting up, the spare rig left on the winder goes back into darkness for the duration.

Personally, I use Sensas Feeling Classic for rig lines and hooklengths. It is almost the most accurate line I have found and I can buy it easily locally.
