Cat meat
Never used cat meat before and was thinking of trying it. Can it be used whilst pole fishing? What would be the best line diameter and hook size to use. How big should the cat meat chunks be etc?

Have a go at it Jazzman...The Frenzied stuff is good, caught well on it! Or you try the cheaper stuff Coshida etc...
You can catch well on the Pole...I like the Preston 6's for a Float (Nice long bristle) & they're a very tough Float...
Also don't mess about with the line, a good strong'un as they're good Fish you'll be catching...
The Frenzied comes in different sized chunks, so you can match 'em to a particular venue...
Find the near ledge & cup some in with either Pellet or Corn (Or both)...
Happy Fishing...
PS...You know much about the Method, as I'm trying to learn about it ??

Use meat in gravy on the hook as it is softer and you can just hide the hook in it (use a darning needle to pull the hook through). But if your getting nuisance bites from smaller fish then use meat in jelly. My preference is tinned kitekat lamb and beef in gravy.
As for hook sizes, out of a tin maybe a size 12 to 8 or a small packet size 16 to 12. Line choice depends on size of fish, just make sure your gear is balanced for any lumps.
I have great confidence in using riddled catmeat. Very messy but worth it, put it through a maggot riddle and cup it in. Add pellets to bulk it out or add to any dry groundbait for a fantastic mix (swimstim a favourite).
You can also make a soft paste by adding it to green swimstim groundbait.
Fish it from dead depth to a couple of inches overdepth. If you find you are missing a lot of bites using meat just ignore the little dinks on the float and wait for it to sail away.
Let us know how you get on.
Good luck.

Coshida chunks in gravy with poultry from Lidl, some fishery's don't allow cat meat so check first, and it stinks but catches carp either on the bottom or under the surface.

ok
cat meat?
what you do is put it into your bait box and mush it up as much as you can...add a little water so its into a gravy consistency then cup it in
i cup in a full cup every 20 minutes ( roughly a tin per hour) and in the last 2 hours your margins will be buzzing with confident fish.....next 2 hours are full ov catching a fish baiting up with hookbait worknig ur rig catching another fish ect ect untill the end ov the match(y)

Take a look at our website: Untitled Document
The new Neil Machin film about the Speed Mould is all Method fishing. Oneabung has reviewed it here:
Speed Mould by Neil Machin
As for the cat meat, try to get the softest one you can, same as when fishing with paste. That is why Coshida was so good, it was very soft, but some were softer than others.

Cat meat
Tried cat meat on Saturday. The meat was quite chunky and firm - did have bites but they were very quick and was never fast enought to respond. In the end I mashed up the meat added water and feed pellets and used in the margins as a watered down ground bait. After cupping in every 15 mins or so the fish started to respond after about an hour. Caught some nice carp - mirror and common up to 7lb, - tench and cruscians.
So my overall view of catmeat is that it does work and works well but is probably better if you can find a nice softish sort - as has been suggested.
Thanks to everyone for their advice and thoughts - I will be using catmeat again!!

If you can fish short, try using a very short line between pole tip and float, say 6". A lot of those very quick bites are proper carp bites and they will now hook themselves.
Hold on to your pole, 'cause the first thing you'll know about a bite will be the pole tip hitting the water!
