Default Browning cudmore Complex

Okay basically what im going to do is use this thread to put all my reports of me fishing at Browning cudmores complex.

~~~~~~~~~~~
August 16th 07
~~~~~~~~~~~

Okay today was my birthday and as usual i decided to go fishing at cudmore.
I arrived around 9AM, Choosing to fish on Brewsters due to matches being held on suez and arena. Got to the canal and chose the 1st peg i could see which was on a bend.
Deciding to fish the whip and maggots at first to put some silvers in the net whilst feeding a 8 meter pole line for later.
For the 1st hour i was catching every time i "whipped it in" catching roach and the odd skimmer and small carp. Then the unthinkable happened. I hooked my 1st perch. thats when the whip and maggots were put aside.Catching a good 40 odd silvers and carp i rekon i had around 8-10ibs in the bag.
Now i knew this peg very well, and because of this i already had a Brewsters Bend rig set up. With a Maver 4x10 pellet float dotted right down. i baited with sweetcorn 1st and fed a small cad-pot of hemp and micros. !st put in a caught a tench. it went this way for 2 hours then things slowed due to the rain that was getting heavier and more relentless.
The wind was proving a problem for me to hold the pole, so i set up a 5BB waggler to combat the wind. This time fishing a Jellet on the hook feeding 10 or so micros and a few grains of hemp every fish. This went well up untill around 4PM ( i love to stay for ages ) when i decided to go due to the never ending downpour.
My average stamp of fish was around 10oz with a bonus tench of 3ibs 7oz (new PB) and a 6ibs common. this left me with a healthy net of around 60 ibs.

(17th) Money still left over from my birthday i went on a shopping spree in pickerings of burslem and saved £6 for cudmore. I bought some sensas 8mm carp pellets ( im very fond of these pellets ) , Sensas 2mm ( atleast i think they were ) micros , Sensas crazy bait groundbait ( can you tell i like sensas baits? ) and VDE liquid mollases.
At home i raided the cupboard for meat. finding a tin of luncheon meat i cubed them myself, thus giving me odd sized cubes which are good as it allows me to have an array of sizes, put them in a plastic foodbag, put in a few squirts of mallases, shook it up and left them overnight in the fridge.
I made my groundbait a wettish mix , consisting of sensas crazybait , white breadcrumb , hemp seeds ( a palm full ) and a few wetted micros ( a palm full ). topping this off i added a few squirts of liquid mollases. This has been a successful mix for me no so i like to use it as its reliable.
Preparing the pellets etc i left them in the fridge.
(18th) Getting the gear ready i headed to cudmore thanks to a lift from my dad. On the way he kept telling me im crap at fishing and cudmore is "factory fishing", i called him a mong and listened to fergie - glamorous.
Got to cudmore, paid the man and headed to suez. It was around 11.15Am when i started fishing, and again my trusty 3m whip came out 1st. But oh? no maggots? yes thats right i decided to fosh whip and bread punch whilst feeding plain bread crumb mixed with hemp. Again i fed a pole line , but today at 6m. Action was hectic with a bite 1st "whip in" put together around 5ibs of roach before my disgorger and i got tired.
Now my suez peg was an end peg, i had no ripple at all which was good due to the heavy wind and rain. I set up a daiwa pole float this time , a 4x10 again , dotted to a pimple and 2inches overdepth. feeding hemp and this time a nugget of sensas groundbait i was soo into those tench and carp. i missed and lost a tremendous amount of bites and fish. This lead me to switch from a size 16 maver MT4 to a size 16 kamasan B911. i lost no more fish but still missed bites. Action was slow all day on the pole, id occasionly switch back to the whip but more often id be on the pole. overall i ended up with about 40ibs which isnt bad from a miserable day!

Well done young man. A good mixed bag and a lot of thought into the changing circumstances. You won't be the first on the site to progress to the Browning youths - hope you make it!! Perhaps your Dad could take you further afield if Cudmore's not up to his standard!!

Default A Day On Drumble ...

First time fishing in a while, and yes i was back to cudmore ... the previous day was very cold and a hailstorm ... so i knew that the days fishing was to be hard. I arrived at cudmore at 8am and paid. Even got a free ticket as a present from good old cyril !

Decided to fish drumble as it always produces for me. I chose a peg with a tree to my right which is sunkinto the lake a bit, and an island ahead of me. Looking at the swim for a good 10 minutes or so showed a few small fishing surface and a smallstream of bubbles. Perfect i thought! Fish already here !

Setting up a waggler rod, i looked at the island again ... very snaggy indeed, and with a 2bb float i could only just reach the island. Great! less chance of snagging. Fishing with 4ibs mono to a 2ibs hookling and size 20 mustad maggot hook with a maggot as bait i casted towards the island.

I catapulted 5 maggots every minuted around my float untill i received signs of fishing feeding and my sign was a bite. After this decided to send out 10 maggots per 2 fish. It seemed all well as i must have managed to land a whole shoal of perch (i ended up with about 27 i think)! I have a fear of touching perch and to see that every 1 of them needed disgorging was horrific. Still, a fish is a fish and it needed to be done. After about 3 hours of fishing the waggle i decided to cast to some deeper water with a maggot eeder in the hopes of some carp and chub.

I set up a maggot feeder rod with 5ibsline to 4ibs hooklink and a size 18 mustad maggot hook. Casting to a spot which i knew was around 7 foot deep i clipped up and waited for my 1st bit of action. 10 mins for my 1st fish and hurrah! Chub. Up untill 3.30pm when i packed up i was into chub. action was slow but enough to kep me warm. I think i ended up with around 15ibs of fish, 5ibs behind the section winner of brewsters and i spent alot of time talking to himwhilst i was ona tea break not bad for a december day.
