Life at the Bottom

By Paul Law (Justin Case)

So the time has finally come all my kit is in place the bits that are missing can wait for now, and are not that important,

Its been nearly 9 years since I last fished any UK water other than grabbing a rod from a freind whilst watching him pleasure fishing,

Im kinda nervous right now things have changed, its a whole new chapter and a whole new learning curve for me, many questions had to be asked and lots were answered, would it be shot or styles then Im told about stotz, why do people usie catapult elastic in their poles, and hair rigs in matches, "no way your kidding me", what happened to Fly floats, where did future and Image go, whats a power top, and how do I get these pro wheels on my Milo Box?.

so much has changed in 9 years its unreal, you realy need to be out of the game that long to aprechiate the differences,

All my tackle is brand new with the exception of some old pole floats I managed to salvage from my old rig making box, Im going to look like a mobile tackle shop.
wheels fit on Im going to drag the box around the lake if I have to.

To kick off I'am going to base my fishing around a half a dozen Venues, try to master this new style of fishing with supermarket baits.

The First Venue I have chosen is Lake John http://www.lakejohnfishery.co.uk/ not a large complex maybe 60 pegs spread across two lakes but tidy, nice surroundings and very local Its stuffed to the brim with silvers and its bites im going to be looking for to get back into the swing of things,

The second is Colemans Fishery Essex
4 very interesting looking lakes all with individual features.

Having applied for 12 fisho tickets I was very happy to receive 5 and to find Viaduct was in that list of 5, I have never fished the place but I can honestly say I have never heard a bad word said about it.

My intentions were to spend a few days down there so I got up at 4am on the wednesday and loaded the van and off I went I didnt hit the sack untill about 1.30am so I was very tired and its about 140 miles from me.

The Wednesday open

I arrived at...

Having framed in the last four matches here I was quietly confident of doing well from anywhere on Wood lake, the fact its fishing quite hard kind of suits me right now as its a great leveller, and if your prepared to work at it, it can be rewarding.

I say anywhere but there is always a little doubt when you draw a peg that hasnt framed for ages as I did today,

The was a good turn out today and I drew peg 12, not a known peg really 10,12,and 14 seem to be the area the...

First envelope of the year, Colemans fishery New years day

Posted 8th January 2009 at 09:28 AM by justin case
With the family off out hunting for the day with the horses, I was due to be sitting on my rear in front of the box, or pottering about the house / workshop, Im not into all this horse riding stuff, I was told about the New Years day open on my previous visit but decided to leave it open as it depended heavily on the previous nights festivities.

Well the previous might was a good takeaway a couple of bottles of the fizzy stuff and a few bers so it wasnt too heavy I decided to get...

After the previous Saturday here the poor fishing and the poor turnout I wake up with my stupid head on and load the van to go and sit there like a garden gnome again.

Despite all the poors Colemans does a cracking brekkie and I drive to Witham thinking at least the food will be good

I get to the car park and there are cars everywhere a complete transformation to the saturday previous there is even a queue for the brekkie, the only bad thing is the lake is frozen...

I say due as its a funny set up down there you call to book leave a message and if there is a problem they call you back, Im always a little unsure with this method as in the past I have called and not been included in the entrants, although Gerry has always included me when I point this out.

Its been a while since I wrote on this blog, time has been limited and I had hoped it would be the opposite,

So 8 months has past since I took angling back up, Its that time of year when you can look back and reflect on what you have done, have you enjoyed it and what are you going to do to change things if any.

This last 8 months has bought me 4 wins 9 seconds and 14 third places with countless 4ths and 5ths and a whole host of sections, its been a real pleasure...

After the weekend at Wassels I was looking forward to being back on home territory,

It was great as always meeting up with you guys but the fishing was dismal the drive was long and my wallet was emptied but all in all it was a good weekend apart from arriving home long after midnight and then driving to Norwich at 6am

Still life goes on

Saturday 16th August

I picked Colemans farm Cottage for my Saturday venture and High Flier Lake,...

I joined Talk Angling about a month prior to getting back into the UK Match scene, I needed to find out what had changed after such a long break from the sport and I needed to be sure I wanted to go through all the trials and tribulations again.

I was listening to Talk Sport the day Wendy (Barbelqueen) was on there and up pops Lee Woodhouse talking to Keith about his charity auctions, I had a look through the forum and came across this auction Little did I know I was really bidding...

Rolfs Lake 21st June Talk Angling Match

Updated 27th June 2008 at 07:05 PM by justin case
Innitially I didnt think I stood a chance of getting on this one, as the waiting list looked longer than the actual list of participants, so I was pleasently suprised to see a pm from Ian H saying I was in.

Rolfs is a close one for me just 55 minutes with the wind behind me,

I was one of the first at the lake with Steve DNW, being the only other there, we had a good chat while others arrived.

The lake looked nice a very small breeze on the morning...
