Well pike are on hold (still aint had one ) but at the moment i am in pursuit of a grayling the last grayling i caught was before i was married so thats 36 years.Yesterday i set out for herefordshire crack of dawn to Mordiford bridge on the river lugg i must admit i had been walking the lugg for a few months different venues and had come across this bend and back water and it really did look tasty. The trouble with this river its so scenic and i can never stop watch birds .Kingfisher sand martins are just a few of what i seen.Anyway i set up full of excitment a bit like how the glorius 16th used to be found out that the middle of this back water had the biggest snag i could have wished for, so that happend me a bit (may return in the quest for a pike ) but chucked a waggler to far bank under willows loads of small chub and dace...then ran a big balsa through on the inside same again loads of chublets and dace this river is alive with fry and small fish .It was nice to get back on running water gin clear and use some of the skills and tactics we all used to use everyweek before commies.(not saying there is no skill reqired on commies ) all the fish i had were in prestine conditions and wild. Downside was i stuck a barbless 14 in my thumb and under my nail ..serious pain and blood everywhere...tears to the eyes jobby...the walk across ruff terrain was also something i am not used to but was well worth it.And finnaly had a blowout on the trailor on the way home not a pretty site me changing a wheel in the middle of the A456

Still waiting for a pike .Its been a 3 month quest without the slightest sign of a run or a take...my last trip was down to walcot in deepest shropshire i used to love the place back in the glory days of the BAA had a few pike and the surroundings were second to none. This time i was a little aghast the bank had been ripped apart and was devoid of all growth but i expect thats progress.there is also a weed problem down there.the First pegs by the gate were taken and on inquiring they had one pike...
