Default Latest Update

The pool is still fishing very well with winning match weights of over 20lb with very good back up weights, we have a new total weight record with over 147lb between 12 anglers.

We have also got a new carp record with 3 fish just short of 8lbs and a few around the 6.5 lb mark, the biggest carp were about 4lb when they went in and there are only 25 of them so they are really enjoying the pool.

The pleasure catches have been nothing short of brilliant,Pete boyle was amongst the fish a few weeks ago and rang me to tell me how well he was doing with numerous tench and a 4lb bream, he had estimated a bag over 100lb and then said he had to go because he had hooked a carp that was trying to drag him around the pool .
My dad Doug Cooper has recently returned to fishing after a long break and has been taking the place apart with 2 sessions in the last 2 weeks that have been well over the magical ton on both ocassions he has had over 30 Tench with an average size of 3lbs, not to mention all the other fish, chub to 3.5 lb and carp to over 6lb,bream etc.
He has been fishing since he was a lad and says its the best fishing he's ever known, and to think he didn't believe me when I said how good the fishing was, needless to say he does now .

Default Slide show of Carlsberg Tetley Club Pool

This is hopefully a slide show of the pool from Feb 2006 to present time, it may be of interest to the people who have taken the time to read my ramblings and to those who may be thinking of embarking on a similar project .

I must point out that there has been an amazing amount of hard graft from the members of our Club to get this far.
we have also lost a few members who when it was a muddle puddle in Oct 2005 didn't think that we could carry it off and surprisingly we have had people trying to join the club who thought that it was not worth it .
we will never be finished but we have come a very long way in a very short space of time.
I suppose most anglers dream about having there own water and we have proved that it can still be done if you really are prepared to work at it.
I will post more pictures of some of the fish being stocked if this works.
Please feel free to contact me if you think that I can be of any help if you are going down the same road as we have done.

Thanks for reading
Mark
P.s let me know if it works will you

Default Its The Future

Glad im a Carlsberg member with a club water like this. A great alternative to rising day tickets and all the travelling and costs involved. Coz its a mixed fishery you dont have the set methods normally associated with commercials and most baits will work so you have to fish hard to get it right on the day.
As far as man hours go you only get out what you are willing to put in to guarantee fishing for yourself and the club for years to come.See u tomoz at the next match.

Breadhead - if everyone in the Pops ac is that good why dont you all fish for England or one of the big sponsored outfits ? Remember a big fish in a small pond can sometimes get eaten when he tries to swim in a bigger pond. Ive fished with a lot of lads who were legends in their own lunchtime. Give Max Clifford a bell he might be able to help.

Hi Robbo,
What is your last post about .
I don't know what you are on-about either I have known Chris for years and the stuff earlier was just a bit of banter.

Thanks for the reply Chris and yes we have got plenty of fish in the place although we are not quite there yet but the fish we have got are piling on the weight.
The carp record has gone again last week with a 8lb 5 oz now having the record for a week or 2.
The total weight last week was 142lbs with 11 anglers fishing, we have had a member who hasn't been near the place this year due to working and he had 2 days last week with both days over 60 lbs , he's one very happy angler.

Thanks M8,
We are not quite there yet but it is going to be very special when it is finally complete, as Robbo says we think that its the only way to go with the rising costs of day ticket prices, buying the fishery pellets etc.
The fisheries are just taking the proverbial out of us. We now have a match every weekend for a £ 100.00 per year, this includes 10 away trips and we also know that when we are on our own pool the fish haven't been battered before we get there and we know exactly what is in the place.
We also sell the pellets to the lads in the club and all the money goes to the club for the members benefit.
I was in the Pops years ago with my Dad and I am amazed that you have not tried to go down the route we have in getting your own place, I know about the Pops Pit and the place at Delamere but it really is the only way to go.
I know you have got 40 lads but our place has 23 pegs and has not had more than 17 on it with a membership of 20, plus you have the added advantage of numbers to get the work done, you can see from our pool what a differnce you can make in a short space of time.
The other thing is we are going to be able to drop our subs when the pool is finished due to the pellet revenue so we will have great fishing at a cheaper price..
If you think about going down this path get in touch and I will gladly help if I can.
Mark
