I am back with some more stuff regarding our pool ,the above is a slideshow of the EA netting a pool for us and removing the fish to our pool. This was the second netting and gave us a large quantity of quality tench and chub.

The second slideshow is the Tench and chub being put into our pool there are also pictures of the original carp that we had, these pictures were taken in August 06 and they were around the 5lbs mark. They have now grown to an average size of 7lb + with the biggest now weighing in at 8lb 9 oz when last caught about a month ago.

It won't be too long before we have got some real lumps

Default Latest Report

I am back again with the latest news about our pool. We decided that a number of pegs at the top end of the pool were just too narrow and they didn't fish anywhere near as good as the rest of it, this was due to a rick with the original plan of the pool and needed to be sorted.
This work was undertaken in Oct 07 and as you can imagine had quite an effect on the fishing.
As you can see from the slideshow we have made some serious moves to get the place back to normal and within a few months you can see the effect this has had on the pool.[IMG][/IMG]

The fishing has not got back to normal as yet but that is mainly due to the work carried out and the condition of the water and the weather which has seen the pool frozen over on three seperate occasions since December.
We have still been having reasonable sport with most matches being won with double figures with reasonable back up weights.

We have just completed another work party that has seen us plant in excess of 60 trees mainly on the top end of the island and the new bank and over 40 sedges in the island margin to give more cover for the fish and create more natural pond life, the next phase will be to fill in the nearside margin with more plants at the top end this will hopefully give the pegs there really good margin fishing as after the work they have now got approx 3 feet next to the bank.
We are hoping for some really good weights in the next few months with the weather warming up and the water getting back to its normal colour instead of the drinking chocolate that is resembled last Oct.

Just a quick update from the match on Sunday 30th March, it would seem that with the better weather the fish are responding a bit better than of late.
The match yesterday belonged to John Fagan with a great mixed bag of fish Carp to 8lb,Tench,silvers and a well deserved weight of 26lb well ahead of me in second with just over 9lb ( Carp,Chub+ silvers ),with Doug Cooper 3rd with just over 5lb small Tench+ silvers most of the other lads managed 4lbs+. With a few decent fish being lost.
I hope the weather continues and then we will see the big head of Tench starting to feed and the weights will really get going

Hi Chris,
Thanks m8 the pool is really comming along now the last couple of matches have been won with 16 and 17 lbs with good back up weights.

Sunday saw me with 17lbs ,John Fagan with 16lbs and Doug Cooper with just under 10lbs.
The fishing has seen really good mixed bags of fish with Carp to 6lb,chub to 3lbs 4 oz and Tench to 3lbs and a roach to nearly 1 lb with loads of silvers, orfe etc.
The really good thing is that when the float goes you just don't know what is on the other end, We all think that it is a lot better than carp after carp even though we have quite a few smaller carp they are not really that dominant, mind you we think that the average size of the fish in now near 1lb so until they get bigger the pool will be just what we wanted a very good mixed fishery with the potential to produce very big pleasure and match weights.
We really could do with the weather settling down as during the week its not bad and then at the weekend it goes right downhill, 2 weeks ago we fished the match with 2 inches of snow on the ground and it still needed 16lbs to win, roll on summer when they have got there heads down
