Default On site arguements and rules.

The Talk Angling forum is first and foremost the place for help and support of your hobby - Fishing and Angling. It never was intended to be a place where a "war" is fought over anything. In fact the site is known as the best place for friendly discussion about angling in the UK - it also offers you a chance to meet up with fellow anglers.

In keeping with the spirit of what the site is about, we are going to set some ground rules when using the sections of the site that can easily become an issue between members. You may not like it, you may think we are not allowing some information when we should, thats fine, you have a right to your thoughts. However please understand, we choose what we think is best for this site. Posting here is not a given right and you are free to find other places with less restrictions. We are firm but fair and if a moderator or admin asks you to stop doing something or delete something then please do so as they are here to make the site better for all the members and not the few.

So along these lines, we feel the following information does not have a need to be on this site and will be removed as reported or seen.

Posters advertising anything that is Non fishing or Angling related, unless previously agreed in writing with the admin.
No Trolling or posting just inciting others into arguements.
Accusing of someone of being a paid advertiser, posting purely to advertise.
Posting of information that can not be verified but is stated as fact.
Attacking another site member for their thoughts on a subject.
Attacking other members of the press or media.
Promoting other sites.
Swearing, bad language, porn, anything that should not be seen by young people.

Looks like a lot, sure. But we believe the above are some of the items that make it worse on this site for it's members who then get into back and forth arguements over it. Some of the above are worse than others, some just really have no place here. Their are other sites that allow it, this is not one. Moderators will try to be fair and objective. It is not the letter of the law, but more the spirit of the rule. We do what we can. We do not take sides in arguements, we act in the best interest of the site and its general membership.

All in all there is no real need to attack each other, remember, it is one thing to debate and another thing to attack someone. You can chat about the fishing and life in general without getting into personal attacks. We want the Talk Angling forums to be under control and helpful to it's members and guests.

Please also be aware that this also applies to signatures and private messages.

What will happen if someone continues this on the site? Account Suspensions, Accounts Banned, IP's Banned and ISP's notified if needed, and for the worst offenders, all posts made to this site, even if thousands, removed for the member. Please note...THIS IS YOUR ONLY NOTICE ON THIS.

We will not allow the debating of the rules on the site. This post will be modified as needed and offenders asked to read this post initially and advised to adjust their behaviour.

So, please be so kind to use this site as it is intended.

One thing we're going to start being more strict about is links to other forums and sites. Talk Angling is extremely popular and directing people at our forum to other sites is something we don't want to encourage. Everybody knows the other forums and many people visit them. This site is mainly aimed at fishing and angling chat which is the main purpose of this forum. Please write your article or topic or reply to those posted by others. A thread of just links to other forums/sites is especially "delete" material. If you just want to find things on other sites, then Google or some other search engine works fine. If you've invested the time and effort as the owners of Talk Angling have over the years, you would definately feel the same way.

Simon the reason i use this site more than any other is because of the friendliness, humour and helpfullness of the users on this site and the vast majority stick within these guidlines any way. One point though does the links to web sites include all angling related sites as i have found some of them really usefull when i have been pointed towards them by a link on this site, i.e. venue web sites, tackle shops or articles on TF and MDs.

Also what is trolling, i don't think i've done it but on a friday night while out on the town with 15 pints inside me who knows.

Steve, trolling is starting threads intentionally with the express purpose of causing trouble or starting an arguement.

Who makes these names up, it should be called a wind-up thread. Trolling sounds like something totaly different.
