Just to put my point across guys, why has the floating pole been banned for this match? some guys might like fishing the floater as it is an easy method which on its day can make all the difference. The ban should have been if needed, (which i don`t think it was) no floating pole longer than 16m. We are at the end of the day all fishing the match for enjoyment so why ban a method which could work on the day. Pellet waggler isn`t exactly rocket science or a leveller, cast out and fire pellets over the float, reel in cast out do the same again. Some guys may only be able to cast out 25m due to disability etc some 35m so are we going to ban this method because some have an advantage? thats what match fishings all about, gettin the upper hand on your apponent. Why narrow down the options and methods open to you it just doesn`t make sense.

The 'numpty' who came up with the idea of the floating pole was none other than tommy pickering. If you ask him about it now he'll tell you he seriously regrets ever coming up with the thing.

Anyway-
Right in view of the fact that some people are upset at not being able to fish the floating pole I am going to hold a vote by show of hands before the draw on saturday morning as to wether or not to ban it. You cant say fairer than that.

Gaz M for what its worth you have made a decision, you are the match organiser, without you there would be no match and I see no reason for having a show of hands stick by your original decision and ban floating poles.
To the lads from TA please accept the match organisers decision unless you are prepared to put your head above the parapet and be prepared to run a future intersite match, and before you ask I have run two this year and my decisions were final on how the matches were fished.

Thumbs up

cats among the pigeons now !! i certainly wasn't having a go at anyone as i respect all rights to a view but i always use this parallel if you discovered an additive which was so good it meant you framed or won every match you entered would you use it ? of course you would . no skill involved you havent become better angler but it enables you to win more. the idea in a competition is to compete and the foating pole or any method is just designed to catch more. if a ban is for fish welfare then fair enough but lets keep an open mind on all methods

ps andy gas ...please dont tell me thats your wife

Gaz the NFA allow floating pole in their matches and they are supposed to be the governing body for anglers ?????????????

As Brian G has said notification of your rules should have been made a lot earlier but I am happy with a show of hands on the day

Tangler, a fishfinder would help me find and catch more fish, would you be happy if i was to pull one out during a match? IMO the floating pole goes against the spirit of the sport, win at all costs if you want but personally I wouldn't be seen dead fishing it, bodyline bowling comes to mind.

Not sure how the pegging will work but we are using the whole lake, 43 pegs on the lake 40 being used.

I hope this helps

Regards

John
