Default Intersite Announcement Please Read

First of all I would like to thank Steve aka Gudgeon Grabber aka Chavender for stepping in at the last minute and sorting the Individual with Nigel last year. We struggled to get everyone on the bank but hopefully with a bit of brainstorming and EARLY PLANNING it will be bigger and better for 2007!!!

I know there have been a couple of new forums expressing an interest for next year and the more the merrier as far as I`m concerned. I believe the “new blood” will be good for us all. With the influx we will still be able to have 40+ pegs , but be able to shrink the team numbers to 8?!?!

There have been some great venues/organisers over the last few years and I`m sure we all agree without these the competition wouldn`t be half as popular BUT………………………… I think it`s time to conceed the Intersite venues are at the extremes, alienating a lot of people. I would like to suggest next year we use Leicester as a geographical centre point and choose venues from in or around the areas stated below. By my reckoning nearly everyone will be able to make at least one round without driving to the ends of the earth . Obviously these are in no way definite plans but I think it would be good to get a few opinions well in advance so we have FULL TEAMS at every event.

IMO the Individual has a permanent place at Barston but again that must be a majority decision in the future. Let me know what you think please then at least we have a head start for next year.

Centre point = LEICESTER

South = OXFORD

North = DONCASTER

East = CAMBRIDGE

West = HEREFORD

If anyone can come up with some better/alternative ideas please feel free to post them below. It would be great to get some plans in place before the new year to stop people filling their calendars up. Also if anyone can contribute some time to organise a leg please state below. We have perpetual trophies in place for all but the Eastern leg and I`m sure TF will fight hard to retain most of them ;o)

Larry T along with his english geography is not one of Daves stronger points , do I hear a proposal for Cudmore being one of the venues.

Dave good work mate, if you are saying that the venue should be close to those locations then I see no problems, ok it will not suit everyone, then again locations that are at the extremities of the country certainly were not either. I note that its back down to 4 matches. Why no Midlands match?
Subject to dates and final venue locations I would be willing to fish at least 3 and possibly all 4.

Looks like a step in the right direction. I would expect venues based around those locations to be better supported than last year. I hope to be available, subject to dates not clashing with prior comitments.

Once again no venue on the intersite within 90 miles of Merseyside/Lancs /Cheshire. Organisers must think we have oilfields in our back gardens........ A lot of ACTIVE members of this site live in these areas

Doncaster = 91 miles Each way
Leicester= 108 miles '' ''
Oxford= 161 miles '' ''
Cambridge = 182 miles '' ''
Hereford = 141 Miles '' ''

I'd prefer to see a one off match based in the midlands ( Central England) for the team intersite similar to the individual but not at Barston. Its a lot of money for the same people to trudge to the other side of the country. We tend to field the same anglers for each leg. If we could put together a side that relects the venues geography then this would become a much more viable propostion but can we?? . The venue bases proposed could mean we cannot get a full team on some venues. Unless we field a full squad for all legs why bother at all.

I am sure between us we know enough anglers all across the country and could fill each and every leg with decent anglers. The point is to build the site to the point where we have loads from each area... can everyone email anyone they know in each of the areas and ask them to join the site and get posting. I live 8 miles from Donny so we will have no problem filling that round and I used to live down south so that round we could fill any spare places no problem. As for getting a venue near you Paul - suggest one and lets get it on the list.
