Default An Englishman's Shed

An Englishman’s Shed

If an Englishman’s home is his castle,
Then his shed is his country retreat,
Where he can escape the rigours of modern day life,
‘Ave a fag and put up his feet.

He can build model ships out of matchsticks,
Read the papers on Sunday in peace,
Breed lop-eared rabbits and gerbils
And hide stolen goods from the police.

He can dib-out his half-hardy annuals,
Store compost and packets of seeds,
He can sharpen the blades on his mower
And mix cocktails for murdering weeds.

He can brew barrels of flat cloudy beer,
Or make wine from berries and grains
And invite all his mates for a tasting,
Or use it to clear out the drains.

He can use it as temporary shelter
To escape from the wintry breeze
When he comes home from the pub on a Friday
And finds he’s forgotten his keys.

Yes an Englishman’s shed is a haven
Where he can dream and reflect on his life,
Avoid mother-in-law visitations
And keep well away from his wife.

yes simon, another hobby of mine.

I wrote a lengthy song based on the many things that can go wrong when you go fishing.... I'll post it when I finish typing it up and then just wait for the recording contract, lol. One problem tho.... I can't sing. It can be sung to Elvis Presley's 'did ya ever' from G I Blues. I wrote it many moons ago, but I reckon it's better than Nuddy's 'maggots in me catapult' !!!

And thanks worms, glad ya like it
