I had this happen whilst holding the pole at High Flyer

admittedly I didnt have the best of grip but needless to say as I turned my head to grab the catty the top 5 shot through my hands, I wondered what the hell had gone on.

Lukily I had a bomb rod to hand cast well past it and dragged it back in, minus the culprit

barbless hooks doing there job to full effect.

It did cause a few laffs especially when the owner opposite shouted he was going to ban me for using two rods and put an immediate charge on swimming

And just a thought here, Carp anglers leave 3 rods unatended quite often and in some cases while they are fast asleep

why is there concern for the fish.....surly the point is not to leave unattended rods and poles....THAT is the concern...then there is no danger to fish........except of course from people who allow keep nets in matches.....all matches should should be banned its a bit old fashioned aint it

    totally irresponsable!!

,,and you think its funny having a laff!!! jeez you want to stick to hanging around parks ,playing on the swings with yer bottle of cider .its idiots like you that give our sport a bad name!

riddler read my post. the point being if YOU DONT LEAVE IT UNATTENDED it dont happen....and if you want the truth no one is concerned for fish welfare than me i probably handle 20.000 fish a season and if i see abuse or them being handled incorrectly i will tell people.and while i am here ...dont forget to join the Angling Trust.....lets all put our money where our mouths are ......have a nice day.........

PS and if you ever make personal statements about people like that you will find it will not be overlooked again

hey lets stop over reacting, I have fished for many years and the same thing has happend to myself, turn around to grab a drink from behind my box and the rod got dragged off my lap. Its just s@d's law. Also your mates and fellow anglers don't just say 'very unlucky mate what a shame' they like myself find it very funny. The guy who had his pole dragged in will not make the same mistake again so lesson learned no harm done. Also anglers of all abilities enjoy fishing and some are taught better than others, whilst others have to learn from their own experiences. I am sure it was not done on purpose so relax guys and try and see the funny side........and enjoy your fishing!!!
