Jim and Edna were both patients in a Mental Hospital.

One day while they were walking by the hospital lake, Jim
suddenly jumped into a peg off the dam wall. He sank to the bottom
about 30ft down and stayed there.

Edna promptly jumped in to save him; she swam to the bottom and pulled Jim
out clambering up the steep Dam wall.

When the Head of Nursing heard of this heroic act, she immediately ordered
Edna to be discharged from the hospital considering her to be mentally
stable.

When she went to tell Edna the news she said, 'Edna I have some good news
and some bad news for you. The good news is that you are to be discharged
since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping into the
water and saving the life of the one you loved and I have concluded that
your act displays sound mindedness.'

The bad news is - Jim hung himself in the woods a few minutes after you saved
him with his belt, he must have really wanted to end it all! I am sorry to say he is dead.

Edna replied, 'He didn't hang himself - I put him there to dry.
