Smile A true story about my son...

A couple of years ago I was in a text converstaion with my son who I had taken out fishing a couple of times to teach him the basics - and this was just after his first 'solo outing' with one of his friends...

The conversation went something like this...

Me: Did you have a good time?
Him: Yes
Me: Did you catch anything?
Him: Yes
Me: What did you catch?
Him: A duck!

Aparently mid cast a duck had flown by and picked his hook out of the air. I must have spent a couple of hours giggling to myself thinking about him reeling in a duck much like bringing a kit down... :-)

I remember my mate and I fishing a small lake on a darkish night for Carp once. We were using floating crust for the Carp and would hear them sucking madly on the surface near our baits when all of a sudden I had a run; but when I picked up my rod, the line was coming from the sky. I had hooked a duck which had taken my crust and was flying off.

A similar thing happened to me at about 4 in the morning when myself and my mate were rudenly awoken by a screaming run, dived out of the bivvies just in time to see a swan streaking off trailing a rod and pod setup which was bouncing along the bank....

I guess if this was a contest, the swan wins...

Me and my younger brother went fishing, it was his first trip out.... anyway you know how people strike when they first start - like they are trying to rench the QE2 out of the water... well he is fishing a 5M whip to hand - float goes under and I shout strike!!!!

Out of the water flies this roach of about 2oz, over his head and lands behind him - still attached to the hook (well he was only about 8 years old at the time) ... then this dog runs up and grabs the roach and my brother is then hooked up to the dog going crazy!! It was the funniest thing you ever saw!
