I for one am sick of the smell of stale smoke wafting into my peg whilst i am fishing. Why should i have to share in the disgusting habit of other people fishing in the next peg.
I have wrote to my local MP expressing my view's, and he in turn has promised to write to all West Midland fisheries to try and get it outlawed, as they did at football grounds.
I believe this is a great opportunity for Talk Angling to be at the for front of a great crusade, to stop this filthy disgusting habit ruining the enjoyment of our sport
I appreciate that one or two of you will be against this idea, and i really couldn't, "give a stuff".
If you want to kill yourselves great, do it in a room all by yourself and where it does not contaminate others.
LMFAO!!!!
Well done Brian you moved it to the right section
My sides are killing me from reading it. It's the funniest, least thought out post I have ever read
I'd have your nose checked out with the doc if you can smell smoke from the next peg, or even complain to god for letting the wind direction be exactly from the next peg to you everytime a smoker is next to you
I love the bit where you believe an MP. LMFAO!!! it cost me two ribs that bit
"I believe this is a great opportunity for Talk Angling to be at the for front of a great crusade, to stop this filthy disgusting habit ruining the enjoyment of our sport" STOP Please STOP your killing me LMFAO!!! have you ever thought, others might not "give a stuff"

Got to love these PC nannys, they don't even realise they cause us more tax

Lemmings come to mind. also lighting the touch paper and then retiring and waiting for the explosion comes to mind; and as I do seem to like winding people up:

There will always be smokers who deny the obvious and come up with excuses like "What about this? and what about that?", and "which is worse? etc." and they try to justify a disgusting habit by saying "you can't smell it from the next swim?" or "what harm is it doing anyone else?" instead of looking at what is readily accepted by most people (smokers are in the minority now remember). Yes you can smell it from the next swim, and if you didn't smoke you would also be able to smell it yourself (unless you genuinely had a bad sense of smell). In fact some people (not me as I used to smoke) can tell if the car in front has someone smoking in it on a motorway. which I didn't believe untill it was demonstrated to me.
And you will never see "Death by passive smoking" on a death certificate as it would say 'Death by cancer' (or similar) as passive smoking is just a contributary factor of the death and not the actual reason.
However; I realise that it is hard for some to come to terms with this and it is very hard for a few to give it up; so I and millions of other non-smokers are willing to let the smokers get on with killing themselves as long as it is outside, so I am NOT against them smoking in matches as long as they realise how horrible it is for the rest of us. (whether or not we shoud pay for the extra cost on the NHS is another thing).

Thats the touch paper lit; Now sit back and watch all of them wriggling, and making excuses, and calling names, and hollow laughing, and coughing, and P**s taking, and .*&\* etc.

What the hell is wrong with you all, okay you have made it perfectly clear that the smokers among you are Against me. Brian has made it clear he cannot support my request to get Talk Angling behind me.

It is a shame that you cannot wake up and smell the roses , or drag yourself into the 21st century. SMOKING KILLS. And although it cannot be proved. Your smoking also kills innocent bystanders.

rive t not being funny mate
smoking has been banned indoors
you are never going to get it banned out doors or on the bank its just not going to happen
as i said in a earlier post did you used to go the pub when smoking was allowed ?
(i bet you did) did you moan about it (i bet you did) but you you went any way by your own choice if your not happy with fishing on the bank with smokers around you then dont go hang up your tackle and try and become a mp and carry on your crusade to ban smoking
end of the day mate i am a smoker who is trying to quit
but as i said it just wont happen the goverment make too much money on taxes through smoking

"Brian has made it clear he cannot support my request to get Talk Angling behind me."

the end of the day Talk Angling is a fishing forum and funny enough its for fishing related subjects not some where you can voice your politcal views so good on brian for moving it

facts are its never going to happen like every one you have a choice if you dont like it then lump it or put up with it this is the world we live in

I suffered a stroke because of my smoking, I don't smoke now, but I think by banning smoking in open places is the thin end of the wedge, what do you ban next ? farting perhaps, after all that damages the enviroment and offends other people, why not shoot anyone who lights up a cigar ? I have no problem with anyone smoking in the next peg to me neither do I have a problem with anyone eating a bacon sarnie, all I say is live and let live.
This government love people who want to ban other people's pleasure, get on with your life and leave other's to live theirs

Oh dear, it seems that this can of worms has well and truly been opend, put in a pole pot and dumped in the water. You have to look at the bigger picture here. With smoking band in pubs most of the smokers still go and have a beer, but when the erge for a fag rears its head what do they do?, they go outside to the purposley built and designated smoking area ( which is normaly just outside the main door). Most pubs always have the windows open, so the smell of smoke will still waft in!. When the ban was introduced, yes, smokers moaned but they still abided by the rules. As there are no rules in force in regards to banning smoking whilst fishing, i suggest all those who are against it should follow the smokers and just get on with it!!!!. 5 hours every week will not kill you.
yes i smoke and my tab ends go into a pot full of water and at the end of a match they go into my bag!!!!!!!!!!! why not do a poll for and against?
