can we not ban farting in the van on the way to the match my mates stinks worse then any fag .(ex smoker)although i dont see smoking as disgusting it is with out doubt one of the most distressing ways to kill your self. having seen the father in law suffer as he lay slowly dieing and weeping with fear at his predicament makes me glad i gave up. not to say my demise will be any different but dont like to tempt fate.

Sorry for the lateness of my imput on this thread i have to say rive t you are spot on , i am indeed a smoker but i feel that banning smoking in pubs is the best thing that has happened in the last decade i once gave up smoking for three months during the close season that once was only to start up again on june 16th if only this ban was in place then , on the subject of smoking whilst fishing how many smokers take an ashtray or take away your nub ends as you all should be aware by now it is a criminal offence to disgard your nubends on the floor which is punishable with a £75.00 fine i hope that all fisheries start to inforce this

Just to throw another point in the mix, what about the smell on your hands?
Im sure we've all seen the Ian Heaps video where he uses ivy to mask the smell on his hands, but who does it?
We all worry about groundbait scent, liquid additives etc etc, but the smell of smoke is far stronger. What impact does it have on your bait?

Well rive you certainly got the tip to wrap round with this thread.
Made me laugh especially when you claim cars are a necessity, there are thousands of people who don't drive through choice yet they seem to manage - how?
As for banning smoking in the great outdoors - get a life. I can see it now a match being fished on a public stretch of canal or river with all anglers not allowed to smoke but loads of dog walkers passing by having a fag.
How would you go if someone was smoking in their own back garden over the fence from you? They have every right to buy and smoke cigarettes and own their home but you don't like it.
Sounds like the typical evangelical nimbyism of an ex smoker to me.

Larry's post has got to be post of the week an absolute classic
I think those cook on the bank meal things are a lot worse, you get someone next to you fire one of them up and you cant see for 15 pegs either side of you, they have been known to cause traffic jams and even shut airports. I have seen people cook these in the field behind them only never to find them again once lit, thats a whole carton of cigs in one hit
Long live the ciggie
