I used to find the head to heads quite interesting, in-depth look at rigs etc and differing techniques of 2 anglers and how they responded when their opponent caught fish and they didn't and so on.

I get 2 mags a month Match Fishing & Angling Times advanced. In Match Fishing you can just about guess what's going to be in every Month.

Match Fishing ( in my personal opinion ) is to focuesd on certain rivers & reporting / promoting certain events . One thing that i do like is the head to head features ( The Match Fishing cup is excellent !!!! ), also i don't like all the humour stuff that seems to be appearing ( Scone Zone etc...) i want to know about fishing not the antics that the Anglers get up to off the bank.

Angling Times Advanced - Seems to have got better in recent months & some of the features are superb ( Andy Findley's are a real eye opener !! ), I also like to read Giles Cochrane's column as he just says it like it is " i use map latex as i'm sponsered by them & i get it free" for example. I know i've said i don't like 'houmer' in my angling mags but i do enjoy reading Syd Huggins column - it's so well written & nice to know that not everyone bags up all the time.

Again persoanlly i like reading features by the top stars regarding they're rigs, bait preperation & how they think during a match. My fave features are generally by Steve Ringer, Neil Machin, Darren Cox, Giles Cochrane, Andy Findley, Jamie Masson & Alan Scotthorne

looks like angling times adv might be disappearing, what with emap looking for vol redundancies, that'll leave dhp, better get their act together and sort themselves out!!

we used to get improve your course fishing and anglers mail on subscription but now we don't. Its very rare we get fishing mags now as just like you lot we get fed up with all the adverts and same old people. Now if we get the fishing mags it is the Angling Star.

there is to be a new magazine launched by the writers of midland angler for club, match and pleasure anglers in the north east and Yorkshire. It is to be launched in may.

First mag features Shimano Quaker fishing at the Oaks Sessay.
