compleat tangler

yesterday i was fishing a notorious snaggy venue with pyscho carp and used my trusty matchwinner med quiver (recommended by will raison) but i found that because i was in an hit and hold situation 5lb carp took all the action out of the rod and it was locked. what rod would you recommend in this situation ? locals use 10lb maxima on the reel and .21 powerline hooklengths
ps i only buy daiwa rods
