Default Winter tactics

Picture the scene, your fishing a mixed lake of silvers & carp (inc doubles) but you don't don't much about how the lakes been fishing.
Who'd start off with a light rig for silvers & who'd go for a heavy rig hoping for an early lump or two ?
Also, if you were bagging on silvers after trying for carp & failing & then got snapped by a lump would you instantly change tactics & upgrade to a heavy rig or stick with the silvers ?

How many times do you think you're well behind the top places & try for carp later in the match thinking you need something big to catch up only to find out at the weigh-in you've missed out by a few pounds, which you would probably have caught if you stuck to silvers .....

If there is a possibilaty of a big fish on any venue i will always have a go at them first with the correct gear on when catching silvers you will often know when a big fish has moved into the swim as your catch rate will drop or bites become a bit iffy this is the time to change and put a big bait in , if nothing happens go back to the silvers

never underestimate slivers they all add up to know even a skimmer of half a pound say you catch 50 in a day (well in anyones abilities) that is still a 25lb bag and you will always get the ones that are slightly bigger say 1lb they all mount up and you don't realize it
