hmm paste well first things isrst you want to use or make a good quality of paste if its too mushy it will break down to easy but if its to stiff it wont be as apeeling to the carp. second thing is paste stops make sure you use some good paste stop i like the fox match range. and third a long bristled float when using paste you will find you have a lot of fish just sniff the bait so to speak and you will just get little dabs on the float. when fishing paste it is recommended to wait untill the float goes right under before striking.

i always fish with the pole & paste, i make my own paste, but have found the fish going off paste for the last few weeks now as it gets colder, finding red maggots ( bunches of 4 ) to be catching the carp at the mo. infact a week ago, a carp swam off with me pole with reds on. , this sunday just gone i used a feeder for the 1st time in donkeys years, have found that to be working very well, but my plan for the coming weekend is a method feeder on the pole i find the margins to be going well with pole at the mo, but am hoping the feeder on the pole will make it even better.
personally i wouldn't be using paste as much now until next spring, but each to their own
