Default Pole support

Who's in favour of using a pole support while fishing & who prefers just to hold the pole across the thighs... or any other way for that matter.
Just wondering whether using one is like having a third hand or do they just get in the way when netting the fish...

ive got one and they are quite good when using the pole at longer lenghs during the summer months I tend to use mine less as I may never fish over 8/9 meters its also useful in windy conditions

i use the preston pole support and find it a valuble piece of kit it not only saves the back when fishing at length but also allows me to free my hands up and great when its windy

Never heard it referred to as a spur bar before Matt but yes they do attach to front legs.
I sometimes end up fumbling about a bit when feeding while holding the pole so was just contemplating adding one of these to my Christmas list as well .

What I don't want though is to be carrying more weight to the peg & then not using it.... hence the question.
I don't actually notice that many people using them.. not compared to the Penrose PUPS system when that came out..... chuffing things were everywhere
