Default Do fish have different personalities?

Hello guys and girls,

Thought i might start a thread on fish personalities. As im a keen carp angler as well as enjoying my match fishing i find 'carpers' tactics very interesting and often find myself experimenting and employing some of these methods in my match fishing. So i often find myself watching hours of carp videos which justifies my sit through of all 12 discs of the Korda Underwater fishing dvd's.

Firstly i was amazed by how intelligent fish really are, how differently each fish fed, and the fish that just knew which bait had the hook attached. Maybe we could argue that its because these guys are using a 3oz lead, size 8 hook and 15lb braid so on and so fourth, but i think theres more to it than that. To my naked eye i think the rigs that were being used in these videos were top draw, and hardly visible, yet still some fish knew something was wrong, or that they were being fished for.

One particular fish called 'lumpy' a very slow, picky feeding fish actually sits over the rig and eats everything around it, is this a coincidence...or is it because this is a very clever fish?

These videos certainly get me thinking, certainly about presentation, how to outwit this intelligent species, oh and how to improve the 'hair rig'....well thats a different thread, maybe im just trying to win a will raison dvd

seriously though i think watching and employing carpers tactics in match fishing is something really worth considering and well worth a watch.

I totally agree with you shrimpy, however the fact remains that you have made your post at 5am - does this indicate you have been up all night thinking about it!

As for do fish have different personalities .... well they are not supposed to have a memory of more than a few minutes so I suppose they change personalities every day! One carp I caught at Gold Valley several times used to tell me some right jokes and a couple of the others were right grumpy gits - so suppose you must be right..... either that or you should lay off the whacky backy!!
