Dont think you can get an Aspire for £600 which is his budget you got to be looking at almost double that figure

But no one is forcing anyone to buy a new pole every year. Maver and browning are the poles that are are easier to get in Ireland. Dazz try the fishing talk Ireland forum you could pick up a good second hand pole on there, thats what i did.

Hi Dazz,

I bought a G60 back in the summer. It's a nice enough pole, especially up to 14.5m but it gets a bit end heavy at 16m for me.

Its described as an all-rounder and while it is entirely useable on canals, I think that fact that it is supplied with 3 power top-2's and only 1 match top-3 tells you exactly where it was meant to be fished.

It's also proving to be the most fragile pole I've ever owned - I've had both the No5 and No6 section just snap in half - not shatter/splinter mind, but clean breaks - when shipping the pole, not when playing fish.

To be honest, I think I'd look at something else if I were in your position.

Good luck!

quite right brendan , u dont have to buy a new pole every year , but when you do the resale value is crap cos they've brought loads of new ones out . people who own a tourni pro for example , have had 4/5 years till a new ones been brought out and that justifies the good price their still fetching . most anglers, were funds allow, want to own the top of the range and i know quite a few maver customers who are fed up when two years down the line their pole is not worth a bean cos its way down the list . My advice is stay away from maver old or new. Good luck dazz

But if it is still catching fish why would you want to change it,unless your a tackle junkie which is fine if you can afford it.Maver make good silver fish poles which will last you years. I could understand with a carp or power pole as these poles do take a hammering.

I probably only biased :-) i do own a maver pole LOL
